Executive Personal Assistant Kimberly Komara married Wealth Management Professional Stephen O'Connell on August 23rd, 2025, with a beautiful ceremony at St. Mary's Church in Enniskerry followed by a destination-style celebration at Powerscourt Hotel. With 184 guests travelling from New York, Florida, California, and across Ireland, the couple's wedding was as much about bringing their favourite people together as it was about celebrating their marriage; Blue Blossom Creative planned the day, and Ode & Arthur captured it. Kimberly and Stephen first met through a larger group of mutual friends after graduating from the University of Miami in 2016. Although they attended the same university, their paths never properly crossed as students. It wasn't until they were both living in Miami after graduation that they began spending more time together and their relationship started to develop. "Looking back, it feels fitting that our relationship began so naturally because Stephen truly became my best friend before anything else," Kimberly says.

Ireland had already become an important part of their story long before they began planning their wedding. Stephen's parents emigrated from Ireland to the United States in the 1980s, and the couple had enjoyed several trips to the country together, visiting family and exploring different parts of Ireland. So when Stephen proposed on July 26th, 2024, choosing Dublin felt particularly meaningful.

The proposal took place in the Rose Garden at St. Stephen's Green, making it an intimate moment in a country that already held so much significance for them. For Kimberly, the setting brought together Stephen's family history and the memories they had created in Ireland, making the engagement feel deeply personal from the start.

For her beauty preparations, Kimberly wanted to look like the best version of herself rather than feel transformed on the day. She focused on maintaining a consistent skincare routine, staying active and prioritising self-care in the months before the wedding. Her approach was simple and centred on consistency rather than dramatic changes.

She also chose Chance by Chanel as her signature wedding fragrance, opting for the fresh floral scent as a timeless reminder of the day. With sparkling citrus, jasmine and rose alongside a warmer base of white musk, vanilla and patchouli, it was a fragrance she knew she would always associate with her wedding day.

Her wedding dress came with an especially meaningful story. Shortly after getting engaged, Kimberly was at her cousin's house discussing the styles she loved and mentioned that she had always adored her cousin's Ines Di Santo wedding dress. Her cousin immediately went upstairs, brought the dress down and insisted that Kimberly try it on.

"The moment I put it on, I knew it was the one," Kimberly says. The dress fit her perfectly, and she never tried on another. Its timeless, elegant style felt exactly right for the Irish setting, but the personal connection made it truly special. Rather than simply finding a beautiful dress, Kimberly wore something that already held family memories.

Stephen chose a custom suit from Indochino, opting for a classic, sophisticated look that complemented both the church ceremony and the elegant setting of Powerscourt Hotel. The custom design let him create something true to his personal style while working seamlessly across the day.

Rather than having a traditional bridal party, Kimberly asked her two sisters, Morgan and Madison, to serve as her Maids of Honour. They wore cream dresses from Reformation, creating a modern and cohesive look while still allowing each sister to feel comfortable and confident. Having her sisters by her side added a personal touch and reflected the important role they have played in Kimberly's life.

The couple exchanged vows at St. Mary's Church in Enniskerry, surrounded by 184 of their closest family and friends. With guests travelling from New York, Florida, California and throughout Ireland, seeing everyone gathered together made the ceremony particularly emotional for Kimberly.

Her favourite moment was seeing Stephen waiting for her at the altar. After months of planning and anticipation, everything suddenly felt much simpler. "It was just the two of us making a commitment to each other in front of the people we love most," she says.

Following the ceremony, celebrations continued at Powerscourt Hotel. Once the couple had become engaged in Ireland, returning to the country for their wedding felt like the natural choice. They were immediately drawn to the Wicklow setting, the estate grounds and the warm Irish hospitality, but what they loved most was the opportunity to create a true destination wedding experience for their guests.

Rather than being limited to one day, the wedding became part of a full weekend of celebrations. Friends and family travelled from across the United States and Ireland to be together, giving everyone the chance to spend more time together and experience the area beyond the wedding itself.

Music played a major role throughout the celebrations. Aria String Quartet performed during the ceremony and cocktail hour, combining modern songs with traditional selections, while The Event Band took over for the reception. The couple wanted the atmosphere to build throughout the day, and the combination of live strings and a high-energy reception band helped create that progression.

For Kimberly and Stephen, some of their favourite memories actually happened outside the wedding itself. They organised a cliff walk and a group trip to the Guinness Storehouse with more than 100 friends and family, turning the weekend into a series of shared experiences rather than just one wedding day.

Looking back, Kimberly says choosing Ireland was easily the best decision they made. It reflected Stephen's family roots, brought them back to where they got engaged, and, most importantly, gave them the chance to spend an entire weekend surrounded by the people they love. If there was one thing she would change, it would be how much time she spent worrying about the small details. "Guests remember the atmosphere, the people, and the love in the room, not the tiny things that felt so important during the planning process," she says. And after a weekend that brought together family, friends and two countries, it is easy to see why.
