Situated on 1,000 acres and surrounded by the breathtaking Wicklow Mountains, Powerscourt Hotel was the spectacular venue for the wedding of Danielle Doyle, director of reporting, to Michael Miuccio, user experience researcher, on August 31st, 2024. Photographed by Anna G Photography, prepare to be enchanted by this stunning summer celebration!
The two met in New York City in 2020. Danielle had moved to New York from Dublin and was working at an Investment Bank in the city. Mike was back in the NY/NJ area after moving to Florida to pursue a PHD in Neuroscience. COVID meant that Mike could study remotely, and the couple met shortly after his return to the area. After a successful first date, grabbing an outdoor coffee and walking through Astoria Park, they decided to meet again the following week.
"We got engaged at the Disney Boardwalk in Orlando in early January of 2024. It’s honestly a bit of a blur. We went for a nice meal, and as we were walking along the water, Mike got down on one knee. Afterwards, we stayed at a resort nearby and soaked in the moment. The next day was spent calling friends and family – and of course a nip to the nail salon for some shellac!"
"In terms of skincare, I invested in some high-quality products that were recommended to me by my local med spa. I tried several treatments in the months leading up to the wedding, including regular Hydrafacials, Morpheus8, and Tetra Laser treatments." Danielle's sister actually gifted her signature scent, Blackberry Bay, from Jo Malone.
Danielle had a nail-bitingly short turnaround from engagement to walking down the aisle, only eight months, so time was of the essence when it came to finding her dream dress. Thankfully, she lived around the corner from a bridal boutique, so she didn't have to venture further than 10 minutes away, and amazingly, by her second appointment, she had made up her mind. "In the end, I was between a backless, fully beaded gown with intricate sleeves and the dress I chose, which was a lot simpler and lighter. I went back and forth on the two styles for a while, but I’m delighted with my choice."
"My two gorgeous sisters and my childhood friend were my bridesmaids. Picking the dresses was done mostly through sending links, as they were based in Dublin, New York, and Sydney. They were all very relaxed about the dress and would honestly look good in anything!"
"We had a gorgeous traditional band called Sin a Deir si do our ceremony music. They really added to the ceremony, and I even teared up a bit during the rainy night in Soho. Our celebrant made the ceremony incredibly fun and relaxed, with plenty of laughs. When we were signing the paperwork, a robin appeared. Everyone was talking about that for weeks after; it felt super special."
To be close to Danielle's family, the pair decided to tie the knot in Ireland. When it came to choosing the venue, one of the major necessities was relatively close proximity to the airport to accommodate their international travellers. "We had stayed at Powerscourt the year before getting engaged and loved every moment. It’s so serene and peaceful once you’re on the grounds. We thought our guests would love it." It was also vital that the hotel had experience with couples planning their wedding day from the other side of the world. "As we were planning our wedding from the USA, hiring furniture or booking caterers was out of the question. The Powerscourt is a stunning venue with extensive experience in weddings; our coordinator, Tara, guided us through the typical running order, popular vendors, and more."
"For our reception entertainment, we hired The Blue Romantics! They were fantastic and quite literally had the crowd on their feet from the moment they started playing."
Regarding the best decision, Danielle said, "Getting married!"
Regarding the worst decision, Danielle said, " Worrying about small details, spending too much time looking at spectacular weddings on Instagram!"
