In the heart of Kildare, nestled on a meticulously manicured 550-acre estate, you will find the five-star K Club. A haven of luxurious relaxation, this early 19th-century hotel was the fabulous venue for the wedding of social worker Lucy Watters and accountant Micheal Teehan on the 3rd of May 2025. A garden ceremony, heartfelt moments and cornflower-blue bridesmaids' dresses made this early spring wedding one to remember, captured by Studio Brown.
"We first met on the 1st of July 2019. We had chatted previously, but that Monday evening was the first time that we had ever met. Lucy made the difficult decision of skipping an episode of Love Island, so the early signs were already positive. The casual date actually went so well that we ended up meeting again on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of that same week. Before our first formal date on Sunday evening, we went for food and drinks together."
Micheal woke Lucy up on the 4th of February in 2023 and told Lucy she was going on a surprise trip (news to Lucy, who had been out with her bridesmaid Jenny the night before and was feeling fragile!). He drove to Kinsale and had planned to pop the question on the Charles Fort walk. "The sun was shining, and the weather was glorious, and we stopped at the top of the hill at a lovely bench, and while Micheal plucked up the courage to ask, a man came and sat on the bench with us and started to eat a roll, so we walked back down!"
Inspired by their unplanned guest, Lucy asked Micheal to go to lunch, and luckily, he knew just the place! "We went to the Montenotte Hotel, where he had actually booked for us to stay." While in the hotel restaurant, the staff came over to say that they had a surprise. Leading the pair down to the private cinema where they watched The Notebook, and Micheal had his bride-to-be's favourite cocktail and treats. "After this, we checked into the hotel and went for a walk, where Micheal proposed; it was perfect."
"I spent the year before the wedding getting into a good beauty routine. I went to The Skin Boutique in Kilsealy regularly for Microneedling, Hydrafacials and Chemical Peels. I also got my hair cut every 12 weeks in the Space in Drumcondra. My Eyebrow and nail appointments remained monthly. The signature scent I chose was ‘Red Hibiscus’ by Jo Malone. This was really special for me, as my friend Audrey helped me choose it."
Lucy's journey to pick her wedding dress was harder than she thought. "I ended up liking a lot of dresses and various styles, which made it harder to narrow down my choices." She knew from the start that she wanted a simple dress that was timeless and elegant, so it wasn't an entirely blind search! On a visit to The Suite Bridal in Rathmines with her mum, sister and bridesmaids, Lucy tried on the Chosen By Kyha Luni gown and fell in love! "We had a lot of beautiful days out trying on dresses that ended with lovely dinners and a lot of wine!"
For his suit, Micheal visited Collar and Cuff in Glasnevin for my suit. "I made the choice early on that I wanted to go with black tie as it's classic and photographs well."
For her bridal party, Lucy had three of her closest—her youngest sister, Lorna, and two school friends, Ali and Jenny—by her side. "We tried on a few dresses, but I knew I wanted to pick a dress that wasn’t a typical bridesmaid dress and that the girls could wear again if they wanted to." She found the cornflower blue dresses from Whistles, with each girl wearing a different variation.
"Our ceremony was on the Grounds of the K Club in their stunning gardens. We were lucky enough that the weather was beautiful, and we were able to have the ceremony outside. Our celebrant, Jacqui, was amazing and made the ceremony really personal and special. The string quartet were beautiful, and I walked down the aisle to ‘Someone Like You’ by Adele, my favourite song. My favourite moment of the ceremony was getting to walk with my Dad. It was so special."
Holding so many memories for Lucy from her childhood, when it came to choosing their venue, The K Club felt like an obvious choice."We were lucky enough that when we went to view it, we saw an outdoor ceremony taking place, and the grounds looked so spectacular, we knew that it was the right venue for us."As they had family travelling from all over the country, the wedding party put the hotel's accommodations to good use, some staying in the hotel and others staying in the lodges, so that they could be ready for the wedding day 2 in the Straffan Inn. "What we loved most about the K Club was the relaxed atmosphere with brilliant service."
"For our ceremony and drinks reception music, we chose the ‘Avoca String Quartet’. They were the first vendor that we booked after the venue, and they were just breathtaking. Every song that they played was just perfect. For our evening music, Micheal picked ‘The Seducers’, who really kept the crowd on the dancefloor for the whole night. Davy and the team were so interactive with the guests and were able to entertain everyone. For our day 2 music, we had Kieran McKillop from Belfast. He was brilliant and had a great mix of new and older songs that he played on guitar."
"Our best decision was choosing to get married outside, it was such a special part of our day. Our worst decision was stressing over the uncontrollable; things will turn out how they are supposed to on the day."
