BRIDAL TRENDS FROM SPRING 2017

We've already admired some of our favourite wedding dresses from the 2017 bridal collections and there were definitely some easy to spot trends across the various collections, but we've picked our top five trends from the latest collections for brides who want to be on trend for their wedding.

Off the shoulder

Bare shoulders have been big on the bridal scene for a while, but now we're taking the cap sleeves down even further. For brides who want to bare their shoulders without going fully strapless, this trend is perfect and since it has featured so heavily in a number of 2017 collections, you definitely won't be short for inspiration.

Pantone colours

We're obsessed with the Pantone colour combo this year of rose quartz and serenity and it seems we're not alone. Colourful bridal gowns are back and showcasing blush and rose tones as well as light, dusty blue. From the delicate floral rose gown from Naeem Khan to the faint serenity blue of Pronovias, the colours are coming out everywhere for brides.

Plunging necklines

Plunging necklines were big for brides last season, and it looks like they're here to stay for 2017. No longer simply belonging to the sultry designs of Galia Lahav and Berta Bridal, plunging necklines can be seen across the board, from narrow, figure-hugging gowns in the latest Pronovias collection to dramatic skirts from Ines di Santo.

Toppers

Whether it's for a bit of extra cover for the ceremony, a bit of extra warmth in Irish weather or just to add a little something extra to your wedding dress, you'll be right on trend with anything from a shawl to a bolero on your wedding day. The Spring collections saw an increasing number of 'toppers' accompanying their bridal gowns, with delicate ones like Jenny Packham's cover-up to Delphine Manivet's boldly elegant cream jacket.

Big bows

Go big or go home. For 2017, designers across the catwalks were adding to their dramatic bridal ballgowns, or enhancing their narrow, otherwise simple designs with oversized, dramatic bows, giving a certain additional grandeur to their designs. A bride who walks up the aisle with a statement bow will not be easily forgotten.
