Dublin-based designer Ivana Hruza created the bridal label Darla Haute Couture to help make dreams come true for those in search of a fashion-forward gown that’s both unique and timeless. As the brand’s fifth collection, Majestic Love, launches, we get the particulars on the highlights.

1/ What was the inspiration behind Darla Haute Couture’s fifth collection, Majestic Love?

Ophelia

Majestic Love was born from a desire to create a collection for brides who want to feel special, elegant, and a little regal on their wedding day. I was inspired by dramatic silhouettes, volume, luxurious fabrics, and the belief that every woman deserves to shine in a gown that highlights her personality and beauty. My goal was to bring together romance, femininity, and confidence in one collection.

2/ Is there one particular gown in the collection that perfectly captures the essence of Majestic Love?

Flora

Yes. It’s a silk shirt with voluminous sleeves paired with a skirt. This look perfectly represents what Majestic Love is all about — modern elegance, sophistication, and the confidence to be different. I love that it is not a traditional wedding dress, yet it still has all the beauty, grandeur, and uniqueness that brides are looking for.

3/ How did your journey into bridal design begin, and what drew you to creating wedding gowns specifically?

Aria

As a young girl, I used to admire the wedding dresses displayed in the window of a bridal boutique. I would look at them and wonder how it was even possible to create something so beautiful. I was fascinated by the skill, knowledge, and craftsmanship behind these gowns. Later, I got the opportunity to work in that very same bridal salon, where I gained my first experience. From that moment on, I never stopped creating. More than 25 years later, I still feel the same excitement whenever a new gown comes to life.

4/ After 25 years of working with brides, what have you learned about them during the wedding planning process?

Daphne

I have learned that the period leading up to a wedding is often far more stressful than people realise. Brides carry a huge amount of responsibility and pressure because everyone expects them to make countless decisions and ensure that everything is perfect. They are often tired, overwhelmed, and faced with endless questions and expectations from family and friends. That’s why I believe my role is about much more than creating a dress. I want to support my brides, give them confidence, and help them enjoy  the process. A wedding should be one of the happiest times in a woman’s life, not just a long list of tasks and obligations.

5/ You specialise in bespoke bridal. What makes designing your own wedding gown such a unique experience compared with buying one off the rack?

Vita

When a gown is made to measure, the bride becomes part of the entire creative journey; from the first ideas and fabric selections to the final details, she is involved every step of the way. With my guidance and expertise, we create a gown that reflects her personality, complements her figure, and fulfils her vision. One of the most rewarding parts is seeing her fears and uncertainties gradually turn into excitement and confidence.

6/ Can you walk us through the bespoke design process, from a bride’s first consultation to the final fitting?

Seraphina

Everything begins with an initial consultation where we discuss the bride’s ideas, wishes, and wedding style. We then try different silhouettes to discover which shapes suit her best. Often, we combine elements from different gowns to create something completely unique. Once the design is finalised, we select fabrics and begin the fitting process. Through several fittings, the gown gradually takes shape. The final fitting usually takes place a few weeks before the wedding, when we perfect every last detail and ensure everything fits beautifully.

7/ What is the most emotional moment for you during the creation of a wedding gown?

Amber

Without a doubt, it is the moment a bride looks at herself in the mirror and sees her gown exactly as she imagined it. The smile and sparkle in her eyes cannot be faked. Equally special are the messages I receive after the wedding, when brides tell me how happy they were, how much they enjoyed their day, and how much their gown meant to them.

8/ What makes the Darla Haute Couture experience different to other bridal boutiques?

Carmen

Darla Haute Couture is not a boutique that sells other designers’ brands. We create our own designs and stand behind every gown that leaves our studio. Because of that, we can adapt the design, fit, and details to each individual bride. She does not have to search for a gown that fits her perfectly — we create a gown that is made especially for her.

9/ How would you describe the Darla Haute Couture bride?

Celestia

She is a woman who knows what she wants, or is ready to discover it together with me. She is confident, brave, and looking for something special. She values quality, craftsmanship, and a personal approach. She doesn’t want to look like everyone else — she wants to look like the very best version of herself.

10/ What’s the one piece of advice you give every bride before she starts shopping for her wedding dress?

Julietta

Keep an open mind. Very often, the dress a bride believes will be “the one” turns out not to be the right choice. Try different styles and silhouettes. When you find your dress, you will simply know. The most important thing is that you feel beautiful, comfortable, and confident when you wear it.

11/ What do brides say they loved most about their experience with Darla Haute Couture?

Dahlia

Most brides mention the personal approach and the sense of reassurance they felt throughout the entire process. They knew they could call me, ask for advice, or arrange an additional fitting whenever they needed to. I believe what they value most is the trust we build together and the fact that they are involved in the creation of their gown from the very beginning to the very end.
