There’s no denying that dogs have a habit of stealing the spotlight, and weddings are no exception. From proudly walking down the aisle to posing for portraits, keeping an eye on the celebrations or simply looking impossibly cute in a bow tie, our four-legged friends have made some very memorable appearances in our real weddings. To celebrate International Dog Day, we’re looking back at a few of the much-loved pups who have featured alongside our real couples. Because while the bride and groom might technically be the stars of the day, we all know there’s a strong chance the dog will be the one everyone remembers!

Talking about the star of the show, Nikita & Erfan's pooch Bella made full use of the five-star bridal suite at Sheen Falls Lodge before escorting the couple's daughter Jessica down the aisle!

Another adorable ring bearer on the list, Bailey took his role in Maeve & Jago's wedding day at Castlemartyr Resort exceptionally seriously, happily greeting guests, looking incredibly photogenic, and even making himself a cosy resting spot on the train of Maeve’s dress!

Maybe one of the cutest shots of a bride and her pup, Katherine & Michael's precious little Dachshund Charlie stole hearts at the Carriage Rooms with those big brown eyes and his little tuxedo bib!

The perfect addition to the greeting line, Rebecca & Shane's bouncing Bernese Mountain Dog Monty made sure to thank each guest for coming to their special day at Clontarf Castle. Fully decked out in a tux, dare we say he might be the most handsome addition to a wedding party we've seen!

Two perfect gentlemen on the wedding day, Dobby and Kobe, joined Nikki & Kieran at their Killarney Oaks Hotel Wedding before being whisked away for a day of fun with their babysitter!

Not wanting to miss out on a chance to kiss the brides, Nicola & Aoife's beloved lab Archie made sure to get his licks in after the stunning ceremony at the Turntable at the Station House Hotel!

Not only was Marlo the guest of honour at Marie & Pearse's Lough Rynn Castle celebration, proudly trotting down the aisle with the wedding rings, he was also the talk of the town at their Day 2 in Bobby’s wine bar! Have you ever seen a more photogenic pooch?

The perfect surprise for her new bride, Katie & Glenn had decided that their boisterous boy Charlie wouldn't attend their Ballykealy House wedding; however, Glen decided he couldn't miss out, so he surprised Katie by inviting him for the day!

Another lovely little lady on the list, Nola's bow and bandana were made from offcuts of Magda's beautiful Alexandra Grecco gown for her attendance at their springtime wedding at The Station House Hotel!

The handsomest best man we've ever seen, Áine & Ian's Clonabreany House wedding was attended by their dashing pup Nonu, who carried the rings up the aisle! Not only did he play a part on the day, but Ian also included him in the proposal with a personalised book that ended with a shot of Nonu offering a paw, with the words "Will you marry me?"!
