Bridal designer Lihi Hod worked for numerous fashion brands, including John Galliano at Dior in Paris, before returning to Tel-Aviv in 2010 to establish her own signature studio, specialising in wedding dresses. Employing the finest silks, laces, tulles and chiffons, her creations conjure a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic.
1/ Tell us About Your Start in Fashion
BelleAfter graduating from Shenkar, a leading fashion design school in Israel, I founded my bridal house in 2010. I previously worked for Dior in Paris alongside fashion designer John Galliano. Since launching my own brand, I’ve been thrilled to win prestigious awards and to show my collections at New York Bridal Fashion Week since 2014. I’m delighted my dresses are now sold in selected boutiques worldwide.
2/ Tell us a Little About Your Design
AnaisMy couture dresses are handmade to order. They are tailored for each bride in rich materials. I only use the highest quality fabrics, including a variety of silks and laces. Silk charmeuse is a favourite, as are ethereal silk tulles, silk Mikado, French laces and custom-beaded fabrics. My second line, Dreams, offers meticulous craftsmanship in more free-and- easy styles, and this collection reaches a broader audience. I have played with more on-trend silhouettes and wanted to create an effortless, nonchalant style that caters to more adventurous, younger brides.
3/ What is Your Inspiration?
AuroraMy inspiration comes mainly from working directly with brides, freestyle draping and testing different fabrics and materials. Brides are all so individual — some days I’m designing a sheath and A-line silhouettes, the next something flowing and light. My designs are modern and elegant. I love rich, artisanal details, romantic flair and creating timeless designs for modern brides. My wedding dresses combine couture-quality techniques with classic silhouettes and luxurious textures, focusing not only on the bride’s look but also on her comfort, ensuring she feels confident and at ease.
4/ Tell us About Your Latest Collection
NinaMy new collection is very magical and feminine. The gowns are made of silk organza, Mikado silk, and beaded tulle, and are ornamented with handmade, three-dimensional embroidered flowers. This collection is all about a carefree, effortless look that suits the modern bride with its bohemian style, meticulous attention to detail, and impeccable craftsmanship and design. The collection offers multiple options for a bride seeking a modern, timeless, and romantic gown, focusing on the female form with lightweight fabrics that capture the ethereal romance of French style. I have used tulle and delicate transparencies, soft layers, handmade fabrics, flowers, and beads to enhance the story each dress tells.
5/ Tell us About the Overall Aesthetic of Your Brand
NatashaMy philosophy is to create a rich, visual, and exclusive language, full of details and nuances, that reflects quality and prestige. The design creates a sought-after, unique wedding dress, blending timeless elegance with the contemporary, chic, and nonchalant attitude of the present. A team of top-quality professionals was carefully chosen to create exquisite dresses, made of luxurious materials and meticulously handcrafted. Each dress is tailor-made to make each bride’s dream into an exciting reality, right down to the smallest detail.
6/ Tell us About the Fabrications for the Dreams Line
ElizeThe fabrics of the Dreams line are the highest quality: Triple crepe, French lace, and silk Taft, combined with silk tulle.
7/ What Influences Your Creations?
ChenMy inspiration comes from the real brides that I meet every day in my atelier. They bring something fresh, clean and sexy. I also love fabric and the joy of the endless search for the most inspiring and unique fabrics. That said, one the most important things for me, which always makes me feel thankful for my work, is to see the relationships between brides and their moms.
8/ What Do You Love Best About What You Do?
ErinI love my work, and I feel lucky every day, as if it were my first day and the first gown I'd designed.
Lihi Hod dresses start from approx. €5,000, and the Dreams Collection is available at Browns Bride in London
