Marina and Luke met while working at the same company over a decade ago. When Marina was planning on leaving the firm, Luke invited her to a party but she turned him down. "From then on Luke completely ignored me and didn’t answer my texts or emails. I didn’t really realise that he was actually asking me out.  The only thing for it was to “man” up and ask him out. I did and here we are today."

Luke proposed at the top of parliament hill in Hampstead Heath in London on a rainy afternoon while taking their dog for a walk. "Surrounded by pine trees and sheltered from the rain, he got down on one knee and gave this incredibly long speech. I don’t remember a word he said but I remember the feeling. It was a magical moment."

After settling on Luke's plan for a lavish wedding in Ireland instead of Marina's desire of a small beach wedding somewhere, the choice of venue was easy for them. "We wanted to have a team of excellent professionals to work with us and ensure the day ran smoothly. Also being close to my parents’ house The K Club was the perfect choice.  They were amazing. I couldn’t recommend the team highly enough."

"Not only is the food amazing and the grounds beautiful, but it’s also the staff that make the day run smoothly and according to plan. Susie Hopkins Burke the wedding coordinator at the K Club especially was an amazing person to work with. Her attention to detail is incredible."

One of the more difficult decisions, according to Marina, was the bridal party. "My best friend is a guy who profusely refused to be my bridesmaid or bridesman for that matter, and Luke’s childhood friends all live in either London or New York." In the end, Marina chose Luke's two sisters and her cousin, while Luke had his best friend from University who had just returned to Dublin after a number of years in Paris.

"We made a controversial decision to have the wedding on a Tuesday. Luke and I had our first date on that day, 10 years previous." The ceremony was held in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Trim Co. Meath, a Gothic-style church, surrounded by landscaped grounds and overlooking Trim Castle. "The acoustics in the church are incredible and to have my cousin Lusine, who is a professional pianist and an organ player, together with a world renowned choir made the mass for our wedding day unforgettable," said Marina.

Marina opted for thick lace on her dress so the detail would stand out more in the photos and she had her bridesmaids' dresses custom-made with non-crease chiffon fabric. "I love coral colour. I think this colour looks fabulous on every skin tone, be it porcelain white or tanned dark. "If you are looking to go down that rout, visit The Cloth Shop. The girls looked amazing in the dresses and the fabric remained wrinkle free through the day."

Marina also admitted that the pyromaniac in her meant there absolutely had to be fireworks on the day. "I was willing to forgo my wedding dress as long as I got the fireworks." The couple also had Italian confetti for favours; five roasted sugar almonds inside guipure lace napkin decorated with flowers and ribbons. "The five almonds signifying five wishes for the bride and groom: health, wealth, happiness, fertility and longevity."

Marina advised future brides to book a spa day the day before the wedding. "At the end of a day of pampering, get your nails done. That way in the morning of your wedding you will feel relaxed and stress free and have enough some time to yourself to eat some breakfast, before an army of people descend on you."
