Ireland is a traditional and superstitious nation, and so believes that the groom cannot see the bride before the wedding because it’s bad luck. But more weddings are straying from tradition these days and a massive trend from across the water that’s creeping over is the ‘first look’ photographs.
First look photographs are a great idea for several reasons. Firstly, they give you that special moment with just the two of you. You can look at each other on your most special day for the first time without a few hundred guests having a gawk too. We know, they’re family and friends and of course they’re very important people but that doesn’t mean you don’t want a private moment away from them. That first look might also take away the pre-wedding jitters in the ceremony.
Another reason you might opt for first look photos is if, for whatever reason, the bride has no one to give her away or has simply chosen not to be given away. When the tradition that comes with being brought up the aisle and given away is gone, it might be nice to not have to do that at all. You might even decide to walk up the aisle together after your first look.
Finally, first look photographs are incredibly romantic. Seeing each other for the first time can be incredibly emotional and to have that moment made special with some privacy for just the two of you is lovely. The romance of it all also creates stunningly beautiful and memorable photographs.
