Some superwoman-style brides might try to do absolutely everything themselves, and we salute them. Others invest in a wedding planner to take all their stresses away so that they don’t have to worry about anything except choosing their dress and showing up in it. For the rest of the brides, there is a constant struggle between doing things yourself and not getting too overwhelmed. The best thing to do is to delegate some of the work to your siblings, helpful friends, and of course, the groom and bridal party.

Jobs for the groom

Let him take care of his side of the guest list and his groomsmen. This could also include putting him in charge of the suits for him and the groomsmen, with your seal of approval of course if you don’t completely trust his judgement. You could also have him take care of the marriage license. Although do make sure it’s on several notepads and calendars all over the house. This isn’t a job that should be forgotten, but it is one of those jobs that doesn’t require your creative eye and will most likely just be an annoying task to have to do yourself when you’re busy shopping for your dream dress. If you’re feeling brave with giving him some responsibility, give him free reign over the wedding playlist. Give him your most important song choices and after that, let him loose on it. It will probably be one of the more fun jobs he’ll happily take on. There are plenty of other jobs you can give your groom, depending on how much responsibility you want to give him.

Jobs for the bridesmaids

There are plenty of jobs you can delegate to your bridesmaids. After all, that’s what they’re there for. Aside from any personal opinions or help you might want choosing things, you can also ask them to help you assemble favours or invitations, as well as the golden job of planning your hen night. Just be sure not to overload your bridesmaids. Your life might be all about wedding planning, but their lives aren’t. It’s also important to give them the job of helping you pick their own dresses. It’s important that they feel comfortable on the day. You should also delegate any “day-of” tasks to your bridesmaids and divide them up so no one is stressed on the day, least of all you. Consider putting them in charge of paying any bill on the day, such as the hair or make-up artists if they haven’t been prepaid.

Check your guest list for any hidden talents. Do you have a baker or professional photographer? Or even just a very crafty aunt? You may not initially feel like asking for extra help but most would be more than happy to lend their skills. They might even like to give you certain elements as your wedding present. For the day itself, chances are the transport for your family will be taken care of. But do you have any relatives or friends from overseas that need transportation? Most guests with room in their car would be happy to oblige.
