Christmas is such a magical time for a wedding. Crisp, white snow and rustic pine cones make the perfect contrast and while we would tend to steer clear of mixing green and red together at a wedding, we do love a touch of candy cane red thrown in.

Winter weddings are cold affairs of course but that doesn’t mean they can’t be beautiful. Not every wedding is in high summer after all. If it is due to snow on your wedding day, make the most of it for some gorgeously Christmas photographs. Don’t forget to wrap up warm.

Like we said, green and red are perfect Christmas colours but not so much for a wedding. Save the green and red combo for the poinsettias and maybe the tree. Stick to winter white, and a bit of sparkle but don’t be afraid to add a dash of red for a bit of a Christmas feel. Red shoes or a sash or even red bouquets will really set off your dress. You could also think about red or rich burgundy gowns for your bridesmaids.

Fairy lights and sparkle can also bring a bit of Christmas magic into your wedding. And as for ornaments and baubles, they can be extremely tasteful. You could even use them as place cards and favours for your guests. Then they will always have a Christmas ornament that will remind them of your wedding.

The final touch to your festive wedding is, of course, the food. Needless to say, you could opt for traditional turkey and ham for your main Christmas pudding for your dessert, but don’t forget about candy canes, Christmas cookies or cupcakes. There’s plenty of scope to add sweet festive treats to your wedding, and don’t forget a sprinkle of cinnamon!
