Whether you are packing for your honeymoon, or perhaps planning the destination wedding of your dreams, you will want to look your absolute best at all times. With that said, it is highly unlikely that you will want to traipse the entire contents of your beauty bag along with you on this milestone in your life. Danielle Farrell breaks it down and gives her top six dual-function beauty picks for super simple honeymoon beauty.

1. NEVER TAKE BOTH A BLUSHER AND A LIPGLOSS

Why bring both when there are plenty of awesome products on the market that can double up on function. My favourite has to be Smashbox's new LA Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Colour; a luminous cream stick it gives a "lit-from-within" flush of colour. Conceived with the idea of recreating what photographers call the "magic hour" light; that is, the natural golden light just before sunrise or after sunset, this hybrid technology product is a must-have for effortless beauty. Now, if caught in a pinch, lipstick works a treat for a quick cheeky glow, remember, little is best and blend, blend, blend.

2. PUT YOUR CLEANSER TO WORK

If you are packing a cleanser then really make sure you will be able to give it a proper workout. My absolute favourite has to be Emma Hardie’s Moringa Cleansing Balm ( €45, Arnotts); a miracle worker of a product, it is gentle enough to use on the eye area yet can thoroughly remove even the heaviest of makeup, including gel eyeliner and waterproof mascara! And, as if it needed another selling point, it can be used as a soothing and hydrating mask, simply slather on and leave on for 10 minutes - voila!

3. PROTECT FROM HEAD TO FOOT

Ever innovative, the Japanese beauty gurus at Shiseido added the unparalleled Sun Protection Spray (150mls €30, Shiseido counters) to their range a few years ago and even today it remains one of the hardest working sun sprays out there. Oil-free and unbelievably light, it can be used on both skin and hair, even on the delicate face, and boasts resistant to sand, perspiration and water, meaning that once you put it on, you’re well protected until your next top-up.

4. 3-IN-1 MAKE-UP MARVEL

BB/CC creams have been the center of some of the biggest beauty buzzes over the last while, and with good reason. Both having all-in-one properties, they can easily take the place of your regular moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, and foundation – especially while on holiday.
Ok, so not technically either of the above, but close enough, Crème de la Mer  have gotten it so right with the addition of their Reparative Skin Tint to their range. Giving a wash of color, it works to perfect the complexion instantly and even, smooth and repair the look of lines and wrinkles over time. Also, it has a built-in SPF30 and is jam packed full of anti-oxidants to help protect from environmental stressors such as pollution that can age the look of the skin.

5. PICK THE PERFECT PALETTE

Ever find your make-up bag full to the brim of eye shadows, that are all incredibly necessary to complete the perfect smoky eye. Don’t fall prey to this particular make-up bag catastrophe and invest in one of Bobbi Brown’s newly reintroduced Customizable Palettes. Available in a six, four and three mirrored palette pans (from €8.50 for the empty pan, Bobbi Brown counters), they are designed to be filled with any combination of eye or cheek colours, giving you the freedom to experiment with multiple looks and finishes and making this the go-to product for any sort of travel – long or short haul.

6. MASCARAS AT DAWN

A good smudge, run and clump-proof mascara is an absolute essential while on holidays. Defining the eyes, which are the windows to the soul, a little pop of mascara goes a long way. My latest lust-after lash product comes from Clinique as they have now added the Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara (€22.50, Clinique counters)to their Chubby range. Available in 5 shades, each tailored to eye colour, my favourite is Jumbo Jet black. Delivering intense colour and unrivalled volume, this mascara gives an old Hollywood feel to your eye make-up. With a super-large volumising brush, your lashes will be transformed from drab to fab with one sweep. To increase your mascaras usefulness, use a fine eyeliner brush to simply take product from the wand and apply as a gel/liquid liner substitute. Never carry both with you again!
