Sometimes your complexion just needs a pick me up; that little extra your foundation doesn't give. I find that when I am looking ashen and drawn nothing picks me up quite like a hint of a tan. Yes, the suggestion of summer on your face makes everything look better, but if like me, and a weekend away in the sunshine isn't an option, Lancaster's Weekend in Capri Self-Tanning Jelly is definitely the next best thing. Easy to apply and almost completely idiot proof, the colour is natural and the result is 99% streak free. This is my new best friend and is helping me get through depressing January with the relaxed and gorgeous look of someone who has spent some time lying on a beach, if only.

Wearing this foundation is like walking around with the world viewing you through only the most flattering Instagram filter. Its unique formula has an in-built light-responsive technology that gives an even and luminous finish - it basically blurs out blemishes - and is undetectable to the eye. Available in 10 shades and with buildable coverage from sheer to medium.
3. Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm, Clinique, €24
What is there not to love about mistake-proof cheek colour? Nothing, that's what. So, if you're searching for a healthy glow, but ending up more Aunt Sally from Worzel Gummidge than Rosie Huntington-Gorgeous, these bad boys are for you. Heftier and more rounded than the lip version of the product, application is a joy, and Robust Rhubard is the colour of a blushing bride. Giving a semi-sheer and natural flush of colour Robust Rhubard is my go-to product when I feel washed out and drained by life.
4. Brightening Brick, Bobbi Brown, €44
Described by the brand as being the "warmth of a bronzer, the pure colour of a blush and the luminosity of a highlighter — all in one compact." the Brightening Brick from Bobbi Brown is my new favourite makeup bag essential. With six differnet shades available there is a skin-tone appropriate product for everyone that will deliver a wash of radiance to give a healthy natural glow. My favourite by far is the Coral shade, perfect for us Irish blue eyed blondes.
